Additional 1,990 new COVID-19 cases reported
MANILA – The Department of Health today said an additional 1,990 newly-confirmed cases have been reported as of 4:00 P.M. Tuesday bring the total number of cases at 344,713.
The DOH reported 327 recoveries for a total of 293,383.
Of the 1,990 cases reported today, 1,831 or 92% occurred for the past two weeks or September 30 to October 113,2020. The top regions with cases during the past two weeks were the National Capital Region (NCR) with 510 or 28%, CALABARZON or Region IVA with 436 or 24% and Region 10 (Northern Mindanao) with 158 or 9%.
Of the 40 reported deaths, 18 took place in October (45%), 15 in September (38%), 4 in August (10%) 1 in July (2%), and 1 in June (2%). The deaths were from Region VI (Western Visayas) with 13 or 32%, Region IVA (CALABARZON) with 10 or 25%, CAR with 3 or 8%, CARAGA with 3 or 8%, NCR with 3 or 8%, Region 1 (Ilocos Region) with 2 or 5%, Region 12 with 2 or 5%, Region 5 with 1 or 2%, Region 10 with 1 or 2%, Region 11 with 1 or 2% and another 1 or 2%.
The 93 duplicates were removed from the total case count and of these 85 were recovered cases.
Eleven cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths.
There were 17 laboratories which failed to submit their data to the COVId-19 Data Repository System (CDRS) on yesterday, October 12,2020, the DOH statement revealed. (Melo M. Acuña)
