Figures continue to rise; new COVID-19 cases at 9,838

New COVID-19 cases reach 9,838


MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) today confirmed additional 9,838 new COVID-19 cases for a total of 702,856 cases since the pandemic was declared in the country last year.


The same update reported 663 recoveries.


The DOH said there are 109,018 active cases with 580,689 recoveries and 13,149 fatalities.


The DOH report said 15.5% of the total number or 109,018 are considered active cases. According to the same report, 82.6% or 580,689 have been classified recoveries.


From the 32,069 individuals tested, 17.3% were found positive. From the total number of cases 98.1% were reported mild cases.


At the Department of Foreign Affairs, 27 new COVID-19 cases were reported with 16 new recoveries among Filipinos abroad. There were three new cases in Asia and the Pacific.


Among Filipinos abroad, there were 17,067 confirmed cases while 5,282 are undergoing treatment and 9,738 recoveries and have been discharged from different hospitals.


However, 1,047 deaths have been reported from 90 different countries and territories where Filipinos reside. (Melo M. Acuña)
